Vote 2004

As the country does its civic duty by helping to decide our next leader I thought that I should talk about my views in this election.

Many issues helped me to decide who I would vote for this election, if I did have a chance to vote. Some of these were personal issues and others were issues that should be shared by all of us. Some of these issues are dicy but, heck this site is about opinions and I need to talk about them.

This first issue is extremely dicy but I strongly believe in my stand on the issue, and it is a deciding factor on my pick for the president. Abortion, in my opinion is wrong, no one should have the choice to kill another being for their wrong choice. In special cases such as medical reasons it is acceptable to commit this but in most cases it isn’t.
Bush : He is a pro-life candidate so is for stopping abortion.
Kerry : He is a pro-choice candidate so supports the choice, but I’m against this.

Secondly, an issue that is personal but does have its factor in this election is the rising cost of prescription drugs. The candidates have different ways of reducing cost but in my opinion the candidates should keep this industry at home, because it is one of the few industries doing well in this recession and it is one industry that the U.S. has an edge over all other countries. Personally, I don’t approve of importing drugs from Canada because it will kill most of the pharmaceutical jobs in the U.S. and my dad does work at a pharmaceutical profession.
Bush : He is for keeping the industry at home but offering government benefits for consumers to help pay for them.
Kerry : He’s been flip-flopping a lot but he wants to import drugs from Canada, this ruining one of the few industries that the U.S. is a leader in.

Lastly, the Iraqi War has been the most controversial issue this election and both candidates have surprisingly close opinions on this issue. My opinion is that going to Iraq for the reason mentioned (WMD’s) was wrong but there are reasons for ridding our world of Saddam Hussein. As Bush has mentioned, our world radicaly changed on September 11, and even at the slight hint of terrorists we must go at them and rid of them.
Bush : Bush supports to stay in Iraq and to complete the mission at hand.
Kerry : Kerry supports to stay in Iraq but he is against the war. (I’m seeing some false interest here)

As many of you probably guessed I support Bush, but as many of you know I have changed my mind a lot during the last couple months. My parents and the media have helped to change my mind but this opinion is probably my purest for now.

P.S. If you are old enough to vote, do your civic duty and vote.
P.P.S. Closer to home, vote Schertz for Student Government!
