The Fighting Illini

I wanted to give myself a day to calm down after the loss to post about the season and all the accomplishments they have had.

But first off here is what is going on right now with me. Actually, nothing much is going on, Track has been pretty uneventful, but the change in weather has caused a serious change in attire and has made me more tired. School’s boring as usual, I’m getting myself ready for the next 9 weeks of boredem, I ended up getting an A in all my clases last quarter so I was pretty happy with myself.

On with the main point now, although I was extremely disappointed with the loss, you have to give credit to the team, they have rekindle the Illini interest in basketball and they hold the winningest (its a word  )record in NCAA history. They are a team that no one expected to do well but they did, they don’t have a lot of raw talent but they used teamwork to owerpower their opponents and they don’t deserve to lose all their fans because of a loss.

John Luther after the game tying 3 pointer

Now that I’m done with the good stuff, here’s my critique of the game. They seriously messed up the first half, they should have gone for more shots inside the paint (2 pointers) instead of concentrating on sole 3 pointers. One person who really messed up this game was Augustine, 5 touch fouls, although dependable on most days, yesterday he wasn’t. Second half was better, but at the end they couldn’t follow through, Luther Head attempted 3, 3 pointers and missed all 3.

i don’t think augustine played bad…he went against may’s. If you look at his fouls they were stupid touch fools in which he was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Now i can expect what Luther Head feels like these days. Many could say that it’s his fault that they lost, but he was a good palyer. Anyways it looks like next year could be the year seeing that most of the players are returning.

ahh if only i could believe that phrase after saying it for years about the cubs… lol anyway, a lot of the fouls in the game were stupid ones, but unlike some people i dont blame the loss on the refs. they really didnt have a great first half, and if they had picked it up a bit during that first half they wouldve won. anyway, since IM not really a big fan of college basketball it doesnt make me too mad, but it sucks that such a great team couldnt get the win they deserved

Thiran : I agree with you, but he didn’t exactly do much while in the game either. Augustine was probably a bit too excited about the game. About Luther, it was really not his fault at all, nobody makes 100% of their shots.

Keener : Its usually not the ref’s fault, it was a good called game. The cubs didn’t come back because most of the team are for personal glory, not team wins.

 All A’s? Wow I wish I could do that. I try very hard to but I never manage to get anything better than all A’s with just one B. :(

I can’t imagine how big NCAA baskeball is over there. It is huge here. It is ridiculous. Then again, it has always been a big part of March. Considering that you have a team that reached so far, it must have been very exciting.

KR : I had a B in Enriched Comm Arts, but I managed to pull it up to a 90.9 with our last paper. What subject did you get a B in?

Teja : Ohio state is the one team that beat Illinois in the regular season, so I’m pretty sure you guys went crazy over that.

Spy : Hopefully you can work that grade up.
