New Theme
Welcome to another new theme here at Chenu-J.net. Most people are probably like,
I thought you made a new one not so long ago. Well I decided to start fresh because V3 of this site was a rip, I used someone else’s template with some basic color and content modifications. 
Anyways, enough with the old theme here’s information on the new theme. This theme is titled icons, and most can see why, if not, its titled icons because its my first template using visual icons for links. This theme took about 2 hours of planning and about 5 rough sketches on paper, with another 5 to 6 hours of pure design work. I wasn’t up to completely make the theme so the template has roots stretching back to Kubrick.
This template pulls together my design niche of using diagonal lines and I darkened the usual blue color and matched it up with a nice red. Although not implemented yet, the rotating image script is already setup. Below are some key improvements or additions in this template.- Some people did not like the sharp orange color, but this color combination is easy on the eyes while giving the site a presitigious look.
- I’ve been meaning to implement the icons, and having added them, they make the site even more professional.
- I’ve been working with the gradient background for some time and having added it to the site, it looks amazing.
- This theme is completely mine, aside from some key elements that trace back to Kubrick and a couple sites where I got inspiration.
- To help our accessible users I implemented accesskeys, so if you press ALT + the key underlined on the navigation buttons, you will go to that page.
- I got rid of the random asides and the random footer text.
Some things that still need to be added include a possible livesearch and a removal of the google adds. On this matter, comments are appreciated, Google adds do earn me some money that help me pay for the domains and such.
Edit : The entire site validates! I adjusted the column sizes and moved the adsense adds to a new place. This is one layout I’m seriously happy with, anybody think I should implement a plugin or a feature just ask.

I’d have to say I like the old theme better. No doubt this took a lot of work, but there was something about the old theme that’s lacking. I suppose it’s the blue. The images on the links above the logo image are a little excess, I think they were better not there. I also don’t like the striped diagonal backgrounds on the header sections ‘Archives, Search, Categories…’
Your old theme was ridiculously uber. Why change it?
I understand this is a lot of work and effort, but your old theme was beautiful.
The problem with the old theme was that it was a quick modification to a pre existing template. It was not going well with some of the professional reviewers.
Oh. I can understand that. I’d have to say, though, I liked it better when it was blue instead of red. It’s a good job, but I guess I just liked blue better.
I’m experimenting with the red, Most of the links in the page will become blue in a little bit. I haven’t got to that yet.
Mm I really like this theme. Actually I’m happy with the Red. The tiny icons are a nice touch. Where’d you get them from? I think I’ve might’ve seem them but just curious.
You can probably spot traces of this theme, A theme from the Alex King competition inspired me to make this theme. Anyways, you can get many of these icons from here.
All I need now is a better icon for photography, time and
maybe friends.not a bad layout chenut, although the fact that its lacking any images of the koolaid man makes it instantly worse then my lj… haha jk anyway yeah its a pretty good theme, easy on the eyes and the colors go pretty well together
Nicely done chenu, making red/blue fit together is pretty hard to do (well… at least, to me
)… I hope I can be as good as you 
I’m gonna try making one of these WP layouts soon too.
For your first one, start with a layout and work with it. If you want a harder time, start with either the default kubrick or the classic like I did with this one. Or you can start with a layout close to what you want your site to look like and work with that.
As for the colors, I picked a nice dark blue color and let the color schemer do its magic.

It helps a lot. If I get a mac, I want to purchase the software version.
P.S. The worst thing about being lazy while designing is working out all the dumb CSS hacks that I used.

agh I got modded down again. Its not your fault, its in the wordpress code. It happened in frizzles journal.
As I said, I really like the new layout and the red is a nice touch. The acesskeys are useless, but they would be fun to play around with. You should add a bloglet.com next time …

As for the access keys, I’m working toward the 508 accessibility requirements. About bloglet, I’ve added the site to it, if you want to subscribe, I will add the email box to the site later.
